SENATOR TAMARA BARRINGER

ABOUT TAMARA BARRINGER

Tamara Barringer is a wife, mother, educator, attorney, and small business owner. Tamara recognizes that our strength as a state comes from the effort of dedicated citizens – not the government.

A FIGHTER FOR GOOD JOBS.

From teaching courses in ethics, to protecting at-risk children, and fighting for better schools, her wide range of experience has given her the skills needed to make a real difference for working families in the North Carolina Senate.

There's a reason Tamara is backed by the National Federation of Independent Business and the North Carolina Chamber of Commerce - because they all know that they can count on Tamara to make decisions that create jobs and allow businesses the opportunity to grow.

A PIONEER FOR FAMILIES.

A LEADER FOR NORTH CAROLINA.

JOBS

Tamara believes that low taxes and minimal business regulation create jobs and opportunity for small business growth.

That's why, as a Freshman Senator, she served on the select Senate negotiating team that produced the 2013 landmark state tax reform that catapulted North Carolina from 44th to 15th for best state tax climate as reported by the Tax Foundation.

VALUES

TAMARA'S RECORD

Before serving in elected office, Tamara and her husband, Brent, served as therapeutic foster parents for the Methodist Home for Children for 10 years. Tamara has worked to reform the human services systems to support foster and adopted children and their new families, and improving the lives of persons suffering mental disabilities. In 2015, Tamara sponsored and achieved unanimous passage in both the Senate and the House for the Foster Care Family Act, and the Fostering Success bill.

Tamara's background as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill has led her to a great understanding of North Carolina's education system.

She is passionate about her work in the Senate for improving early childhood and K-20 public education.

Governor McCrory appointed Tamara to succeed Lt. Gov. Dan Forest in representing North Carolina on the Southern Regional Education Board.
